So as a few of you know I have recently made a small move. I moved from Whidbey Island, Washington, where the temperature is a cool 65 to 70 degrees all year long, with one week of summer that gets to be around 90, to Gilbert, Arizona the home of 115 degree weather daily and sandstorms. Actually it is not that bad down here. Just a little acclimating, (go outside for 10 minutes a day for the first week, then bump that up 5 minutes every week following.)

So my tank in Wa was taken down somewhere in May. I miss the heck out of it. Obviously when there is a move of this sort priorities kick in, and the wife said the tank was not a priority right off the start. So I waited patiently, (shaking my leg rapidly with anticipation) constantly asking like any 5 year old would, "Is it time yet." She has finally given me the go ahead.

So to start this off, I am rebuilding a 180 gallon aga, I will be plumbing the sumps and accessories into my bedroom closet, (which seems to be the size of our bedroom) I was going to go with the garage again, however it seems that the garage gets hotter then outside, it feels like 130 degrees.

I recently ordered a new sump/refugium, and skimmer. So I am excited to get this stuff going.

I also just purchased my LED's and necessary equipment to build 3x 48LED lights. I went with Rebel's again. I really like the color and power with the Rebel ES. I will be controlling this with a typhoon controller. To allow my dimming options.

I will post pictures as I go. Just wanted to let everyone know that I am back in the game.

ABOUT TIME FLOYD! JK my friend, cannot wait to see what come up with down there in the D-E-S-E-R-T and with running LED's you should only need a 15-20H.P. Chiller :flame::becky: Now post some pics or we will not believe you.

Cheers, Todd

Oh my gosh! I didnt know you moved!

And...Yeah, pics are a must!

Floyd,

Great new..good to hear !!!!

And always if you need a fish fix, check out my Web Cam ;)

I've added a Personifier angel and Golden butterfly..and looking to add a Queen angel in a week or so.
I also have a Goldflake angel in QT.

Todd - I will need at least two 25hp industrial chillers, and at .38 cents a kilowatt, I will need to dedicate my backyard to an army of solar panels, and a wind farm. I will post pictures as soon as I get things organized.

Lorrie - unfortunately I had to leave the Great North West. Miss it every time I wake up at 4 am and it is already 98 degrees.

Kirk - I have been secretly spying on your tank. I have to say the fish look awesome.

So as promised, some pictures. I have not started the actual build phase but plan on it shortly

This will be my light setup. Going with 48 total LEDs per heat sink. 12 cool white, 11 neutral white, 1 red, and 24 royal blues per heatsink.

This is the controller that will be mounted to the front of my suspended hood.

And this is going to be a trial pump. It is the new reeflow blowhole 1450. Since I am not using my return as part of my flow, then I think the slow flow through the sump and refugium will be beneficial. If it doesn't work I still have my reflow Hammerhead to fall back on. The difference is power consumption the hybrid runs at around 300w and the reeflo runs at 120 w at full speed.

So the UPS lady was kind enough to deliver my 8 boxes. 160 lbs of Marco dry rock, absolutely amazing, and porous. I also got 160 lbs of their coarse sand. Looks nice. Plan to build the rock structures and place them as islands this time instead of the, stack them up the back wall method. Will post more pics later.

Way to go Floyd, cannot wait to see it progress my friend. I bet it feels pretty damn good to be back in the game huh? Send me a pm with your new address and such... never know when I may travel SOUTH but maybe a lil' detour from visiting wifes family in Phoenix area.

Cheers, Todd

tat2z,
You lucky SOB.... A new build!!
I'll be following your progress.
How many gph does the new pump run? And with your head what will your total be? I am in the market for a good semi low flow rate for my upcoming build.

Oh yea. The trick is not to wake up at 4am a look at the thermometer. LOL

Floyd,

David is going to live vicariously through you until all his honey do are completed..LOL LOL..

I have a nephew and cousin that live in PHX...

Peppie - It is kind of hard to not look at the temp when you walk outside and it punches you in the face. As far as the pump goes at 6 feet it is 1150, which is not that bad. THat is if I am running it at high. It has a 3 way selectable switch for low, medium and high.

I am excited for this build, last one I rushed through and this time I just want to take things slowly and do it right.

LOL Kirk,
The truth hurts!!
It is always great to see an experienced reefer set up a new system. As I have said before " You dont know what you want in a reef tank until you have already ran one"

It is a great price, however not sure if it is going to be enough. If it is not then I will have my energy hog hammerhead. With electricity costing so much down here I am really trying to make this as energy efficient as possible. But I figure The Herbies can only go as fast as the pump can feed them. I watched a video on the pump and it looks pretty strong, granted he had it like two feet away and ran parallel to the tank.

So started the lighting build today. Got the heatsinks prebuilt with the "L" brackets and drilled out for all of the accessories. Now all I need is to place the LEDs and wire it up.

So I have been contemplating hiring a plumber. It is either plumbing is a trade that is impossible for me to grasp, or it just hates me. The wife says I can do it, but my last plumbing failed on me three times. Would you say it is better to bring both drains into one pipe or two individual drains. Last set up I had was both drains went into a true "y" and out to the sumps, I think this time two separate drains is the way to I am going this time. Let me know what you guys think.

Tagging along! Welcome to the heat!!! You sweat here just walking from your house to the car . Good luck with the build!! :)
