I am looking for the best shape/size/textured dry rock available, lookin for suggestions and links.

Thanks in advance!

Matt

I was extremely happy with my order from bulk reef supply. The shelf rock they have available was great. The rock was clean and I was able to start up a new tank with it right away. Great stuff IMO.

Merc and I just picked up a box of the Premium Fiji rock from Marco Rocks. The rock is super light and very porous. Most of the rock you can tell was some sort of large branching SPS colony. It looks like it will be great for filtration and fish to hide in however there aren't many flat spots to place encrusting corals like the montipora. Also it is very brittle, I feel like just looking at it caused small pieces to break off while I was checking it out spread across my living room floor yesterday.

I had my eye on the Bulk Reef Supply shelf rock. I like the large flat shapes it comes in, I think it could make some cool aquascapes. Unfortunately they've been sold out for a few weeks.

I've got some rock I could part with, various shapes and sizes. Its slightly damp but scrubbed clean. Thinking 2 bucks per pound + $4 for box and 12ish for flat rate shipping. Should get it in like 3-4 days.

looks like you can get a good deal with marco rocks with their free shipping promotion :)

What's their free shipping promotion? A special code or something?

(all I saw on their website was $15 flat rate shipping, or free shipping if your order ships late...)

I have some dry rock that I received as part of a purchase with a 35 hex tank. Everything was all dried out when I bought the stuff but I cleaned it up and now have it stored in a sealed bucket.
Let me know if you might be interested and I'll get a photo or two up later today.

Cheers,
Alex

Matt-

Kirk and I had a similar thread a few weeks ago: http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45080&highlight=base+rock

http://www.marcorocks.com/ and
http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/Eco-RoX-(-Fiji-Rock-)/c7/index.html

were the only 2 that got good reviews then.

But Tampa Bay Saltwater might be a good 3rd option--seems like the quality of his stuff has improved recently.

Alex-

I don't want to hi-jack Matt's thread... but I, for one, am interested--and would love to see some pictures of your rock!
(and how much you'd want to sell it for?)

Travis.

Hi Travis,

Not a problem. I am still working on getting a moment to take a photo of the rocks. I am in the process of building a new stand for my 20L tank. *lol*

Anyways, I'll send you a pm later about price and the such.

Cheers,
Alex

Hi Travis,

Sorry about the delay but here are those pictures as promised. All and all I weighed each piece and came out to be just under 23 pounds of rock. LMK what you think. I have photos from different angles too if you'd like for me to email them to you I can.

Not sure I didn't look into it, but I saw a banner on the bottom of the page that said "FREE SHIPPING!"

BO, That first pic. Ho big is that rock!!
That one is PIMP!!!

Hey isn't that piece awesome! It weighs about 15-20 lbs but it looks amazing! The skeleton is pretty in tact and when you stand it up, it looks the same all the way around it!
