Nice idea having the QT next to the main DT. Assuming the sump is separate on the QT and DT otherwise its not really a QT.
 
Your stand sure looks pretty, But it is not going to be kind to your tank. There are some support issues.

Where did you do your research??

Thanks everyone! I mainly looked at the stands on my other tanks and went from there. What can I do to make the stand stronger? The QT is on a seperate sump.

Lets start with the 2x4 that wraps around the top of the stand. There should be a 2x4 directly under that at all corners running to the 2x4 that wraps around the bottom.

The 2x4s you have running front to back on the top should be should be rotated 90deg.

The tank (it is acrylic?? Yes??) should should set on a flat piece of plywood screwed to the top of the stand.

Dont know what type of fasteners you used to hold the frag platform to the top of the main stand, but with the angled support will want to pull that conection free of the main stand.
 
I have a total of 10 vertical 2x4 connecting the top to the bottom 2x4. I thought that would be enough to support it. The ones in the back arent exactly in the corners but due to where the plumbing went, I wasn't able to put them there. I appreciate the tips, I'm not in a big hurry to get it up and running due to a back injury so I'll change it or even start from scratch on it. It was fun to build! Thank you!
 
I am concerned your vertical supports will cause pressure points at the bottom of your tank.

There may also be a problem with your doors opening once the tank is full. Cant really tell by the pic if the doors are flush with the front face of the tank.
 
The vertical supports arent flush with the top 2x4. They are about 1/4 inch shorter. The doors are flush with the front of the tank and dont close under the tank. I do see what you mean though. Ill make the changes and then to be safe, fill up with fresh water to see if the initial weight causes any problems and go from there. If it does, Ill post on here and you can give me more pointers. Still pretty new to all this. :)
 
Once you get the bracing peppie mentioned in I'm sure it will be solid! This is going to be a great setup once you get it finished up - it is amazing how heavy water is! You have to keep that in mind...

One little twist in the frame or a spot that doesn't support as well as it should can lead to your tank leaking at the seams later on! :jaw: Time spent fixing it now will save you headaches later!!
 
Make sure you lay down a sheet of 3/4 plywood on top of your stand before you put the tank on and fill it with water.

I'll do that, and again, thank you so much for the help! I live on base and I'm sure base housing wouldn't like me flooding the downstairs. Lol
 
That looks better.
Waferboard would not have been my first choice to set an acrylic tank on. But I'm pretty sure it will be fine. It is not as structurally sound as a 7 ply plywood.
 
This is going to be a sweet setup :)

I really like how you incorperated the QT / Frag tank in to the design. Much better thought out then I was :doh:
