PSAS Bob Moore Frag Swap
February 16, 2013

East Hill Grange #786
15422 SE 272nd Kent, WA 98042
10am - 3pm

This is the biggest marine aquarium show of the year in our region. Every year we invite members, non-members, local clubs, and sponsors to join together to share our common interest in the marine aquarium hobby. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own corals to swap and trade with other hobbyists and vendors. This event is in memory of a local hobbyist Bob Moore who's generous nature endeared him to all who had the privilege of meeting him. Even more so, the event is about the general philosophy that is attached with Bob's memory. We want to work towards a community of hobbyists who are available to each other for advice, assistance, and to share their experiences.

We've been collecting coral colonies and frags for the last 6 months. Some of the colonies will be left in tact some will be fragged in January at our meeting at Red C Aquarium. All of them will be given away to card-carrying members at the swap. Whether you already bought your card, or pick one up with the half-year membership on the day of the event, you'll be given a raffle stub. We'll keep drawing raffle tickets and throwing them back in until all the corals are gone. In past years, members have gone home with a handful of corals. This year, we've got a really nice collection of SPS frags like Montripora Setosa, Torts, Seattle sparkler, Birdsnest, Orange Digitata, Teal Acropora Echinata, and more... We also have a huge number of LPS, and softies. Whether you're just starting out, or have been in the hobby for years, there will be corals given away you'd love to get your hands on.

Raffle starts at 1:00

Check back for pictures of the corals coming soon...

We are adding two speakers to this year's event. The first speaker will be Reef Pest solutions. They're dedicated to reef safe solutions for the most common pests hobbyists face.
They will be speaking at 11:00am

The second speaker will will be hosting this year is ColdWater Marine Aquatics. They are on the forefront of a section of the hobby that is little known to many tropical marine hobbyists. They will be speaking about their approach to collecting and caring for the creatures right outside our doorsteps in the Puget Sound. They will be speaking at 12:00

Other Sponsors and Businesses that will have booths at the swap:

We're also happy to have the following clubs in attendance:

How exciting...this is my favourite event of the year...love to see all the vendors back and new ones added..time to save some money...this will be fun..thanks PSAS for organizing this great event!!!!

We're starting a list for volunteers at the event. We have two major time slots where we'll really need some extra help. Set-up and tear-down. To make it worth your effort, we're offering free admission to anyone volunteering for either time. But don't feel limited, if you want to sign up for both times. :) For those working both times, you'll automatically receive the club membership for the remainder of the year which enters you into the drawing for the free corals we'll be giving out to our members at the event along with all the other benefits members receive throughout the year. We would like to have 5 volunteers on hand before and after the event. Here are the times available:

8:00 am - 11:00 am
1. Duffer
2. SedroStyle
3. Eartaker
4. thatguy559
5. Shane and John

3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
1. NemCrazy
2. IPisces
3. thatguy559

4. Ichthys

5. Eartaker

Thanks to everyone who's volunteered already!

Looks like it should be a pretty big event. I'm glad to see it further north than in the last couple years. Is this being held in the old grange hall we used a few years ago?

This would be a great event for all the new hobbyists.
Help out a great organization and in return get free membership for the rest of the year and free corals. This is a great event and a must attend if your in the hobby.

Awesomeeee I cannot wait. What day and time I may be able to volunteer. Talk to my wife etc etc. still want to do it. And get in the club in the mean time. I didn't get a chance when they were in sale. Things have been super tight with my wife losing her job in the beginning if October. But! We're moving on I'm working on it. And if I have to! I will volunteer all day. Just to get these beautiful frags I have seen people walk away with.
Cannnnttt wait!

Sign me up for the morning time. Would love to help out and meet everyone.
Will probably have my buddy with to help but he will just be extra :)

Let me know what else I can do.
I will definitely come up with the money sometime next month.

Woop woop can't wait!

Yep, it's the same hall. The lady booking the place is really nice. I looked at a community center in Bellevue, but it was out of our price range. If we build enough momentum, maybe we'll be able to swing it next year. We're still limited to keeping the tanks in the kitchen area, but we'll be able to organize a nice area for the speakers out on the gym floor. Everyone's welcome to bring their square-dancing skills as well! That's what the place gets used for most regularly. The dance won't start till after the raffles are given away. :)

Gonzos Coral Frags and The Coral Shop just joined the list of vendors that are coming to the event. I think we're just about maxing out the space we have to work with at the Kent Grange Hall!

Can someone pm me the info to be a card member is like to have this done before the meeting in January. And maybe the forum to follow the club. :) can't wait

For anyone else wanting to check out the PSAS site, click the banner above. We have a little more flexibility to advertise local sales over at the site. There are a lot of other features to the site that it worth checking out. Feel free to let us know if there's anything we can do to improve the site.

And, if anyone else is wanting to sign up for the card earlier, you can click on the banner, navigate to the menu box on the left-hand side of the screen and click on "PSAS Membership". FYI, the membership runs through Sep 20 of 2013. We'll be cutting down the membership fee to $15 once we're six months through the club year (March).

Are you ready for some pictures? These are the corals we have been collecting in the PSAS club tank. These will all be given away at the Bob Moore. Here's how it works: If you have already purchased the PSAS Membership Card for the club year 2012-2013 or you purchase it on the day of the event, show it to us and we'll enter a single raffle ticket for you in the coral give-away raffle bin. When your ticket is pulled out, you get in line to pick out a coral and your ticket goes back in the bin. Many people go home with multiple corals.
