So how many of you here own the true Blue tortuosa and if you do where do you reccomend me getting a frag from please.

Would be nice to find out who is selling the largest frags.

Does this coral really stand out in your Aquarium as most owners claim?

I have caught the tortuosa fever.

Luis

LOL Luis your worse then me. The original Purple monster came from Steve Tyree in LA. MOst all of the frags around the country came from him at one time or another. Just on a side note Steve is coming up here the second week in october ;) .
No matter where u can find it it will cost you an arm and a leg, but they do grow well and are pretty hardy. Below is a link to Steves frag selling section, thier are some nice stuff in thier Luis so make sure you put a drool bib on before u go in.

I've got two pieces coming my way, from two different colonies. I hope they are worth it. But, everyone who has one seems to think its one of the nicer acros they have.

Mike thanx for the info. Anyone that already owns any of these beauties please post a picture.

Adam I am very happy to know that specimens from the Awesome Blue Tortuosa will be arriving in palm Beach soon. I got your PM and you made my day dude!

Peace,

Luis

Here's mine :) It's much more blue than the photo shows. This was taken in April it has grown a couple of inches since then.

Very nice Kev, I love that color. Hey Play Kev's a good frag man to talk to, he's got all sorts of prettylittle jewels :)

Thanx Mike,

I will will keep Kev in mind for my 180, last couple of days I favored to the 180. I am just trying to weight the sacrifices.

I want to do everything first class.

Still trying to figure out where I can get a place on the net with prices on Reactors and skimmers on Deltec.

hey Playa here is the skinny. The Deltec comes out of england as you know. A friend of a friend has the sole distributorship. I can tap into it if you want. I just got the reasearch figures from my friend and let me tell you this thing looks awesome. Probibly the most efficient numbers I have ever seen. You have to get them media they use also. This unit is not like a regular reactor it works off a fluidised bed, real neat stuff.
Ok they painful part. the biggie is going to tag ya for around a little over 600 with the conversion. then the tag for shipping I figure around a 100, then the media. OK If your live I think I am to, so let me know and if we both order one we can get the shipping down.
On the skimmer if you want I have a etss 1400 and a iwalkie 100rlt to go with it. It was a great unit and works like a charm, but with a 1000 gals i needed a bigger one.

let me know

Mike

Mike dude you are unreal, makes me wonder if you are as coo coo on this hobby as I am.

Mike I am interested in the Deltec Calcium Reactor so tell me what I have to do, how much do you think we have to pay for the media(did you say we must use their media?) To make sure we are on the same page please tell me what model reactor did you get a price for please.

As far as the Skimmer Mike I also have an ETSS Skimmer on my present set up. My Skimmer is actually bif enough to handle a 180. Since I am very pressed for space I was thinking about getting a skimmer that I can put in the sump. I want the best skimmer I can find(1 of 4 key things in the success of a reef). I dont want to have a Skimmer up in the air anymore. ETSS makes one of the top Skimmers in the business, whoever will get yours and mine will get nice deals and a very good skimmer.

Mike I meant to tell you that the STAND and CANOPY in your reef is the best I have ever seen. What kind of LR do you have in your reef Mike?

Did you set the tile yourself Mike?

Luis

The rock is a mix of Figi/marshalls/kalini and a few others
On the reactor media I think it would be best to use thiers, as it is a fludized unit.
On the tilke Yea I set it. Its actually a tumbled marble, I got real lucky and got it on a one day sale at HD for 1.99 a Sq. ft.

Not to get back on topic or anything ;)
But is there any way you can show me a closeup of the polyps on that purple monster Kev? I've been *told* that I may have a tort also, but much darker in coloration. Mine has very distinctive polyps though, IMO.

Thanks,
Cos

Cosmic thanx for seting the thread back on track :)

Hey please post a nice close up of your tort.

Well, like I said... I was TOLD this was a Tort, by someone we all know and love dearly :D

It was given to me as an echinata, but I'm finally having doubts as to that species.

Anyways, here's the pic :) (although you've already seen it playa!)

This is a pic of a true Blue tortuosa. It is not a good picture I'm burnning some new bulbs and they still have the yellow look. The blue comes from the mother colny at http://www.upscales.com/home.ihtml this is were the orgianl Blue tortuosa came from. The sell some great frags and you dont have to wiat a year for a frag.
