thinking about moding sea clear system 2

i have been thinking of moding my seaclear system 2.. so i can have a sump and refug im not sure what to do to make the mod work ??? without the posibility of overflow ect ????

I have one and have thought about it as well. You would have to drill it out for bulkhead fittings for you main and backup drains and one for you return. Wouldn't be too hard. You could put one drain in the overflow, one in the skimmer section and then one in the pump section for you return.
I didn't want to drain my tank for this so here is what I did:

• removed the bio-balls
• built a container that is 4" deep that fits the bottom of the bio-ball section and filled it with oolitic sand
• threw in some cheato on top of that.
• filled the skimmer section with LR rubble and my Remora empties into that section. The rubble helps remove the micro bubbles from the skimmer.
