Ok. SO I have a variety of different Zoas that I took a frag of each and placed them in the 180. In the tank they came from the colonies are still super happy and open. The tank is a Deep Sea Aquatics Neo Nano. The new tank is a standard 180 acrylic.
I took a small frag of 2-4 polyps of each zoo and placed them in the new tank. They are opening a little/opened fully/ and today they are SHUT way SHUT like A LOT. I have done a dip on each prior to transfer and there was nothing of note on them.

Here are the parameters for each tank.

Deep Sea Neo Nano (old)

PH:8.4
Ammonia < 5ppm
Nitrite 0
Nitrate <5ppm
Alk 10
calc 450
salinity 1.025

Light is 1 250W hqi 15K MH

180 gallon tank

PH 8.4
Ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 10ppm
alk 9.5
calc 430
salinity 1.025
Lighting is 3 250W HQI 20K's in lumenarc reflectors

I have them in a low/medium flow area and at the bottom of the tank.

Other corals seem to be doing fine (montis, milli, chalice, frogspawn, favia, etc) It's just zoas that hate the new tank.

I just took and placed each frag on a separate rock at different heights and flow levels throughout the length of the tank. Hoping for some feedback on that tomorrow during the lighting cycle.

Thoughts????

I frag tank is 3 months old....certain zoas do not like the new tank! It's very frustrating since both tanks tests are about the same. I'm thinking that lights on and off is not consistent everyday since I don't have it on a timer yet.

some times they will close for no reason then one day open like nothing wrong good luck

That's the only thing I could think of. I tried to put them in the "deadest" spot of the tank. NO luck so far, but I won't give up.

Zoanthids are usually very hardy, and I barely even waste time acclimating them. I've introduced about 30 varieties to my tank with just a few minutes floating to adjust to temperature, and never lost one acclimating. They are strange animals though and will close for many reasons, from getting touched or knocked around, to just plain cleaning themselves. As long as they retain form, they will eventually open back up. some are more delicate than others, and can take many days to open even after simply being touched. A sturdy attatchment or foundation helps.
