Just curious as to why an entire thread would be removed instead of closed. I understand the reason, and need, for "policing" inappropriate posts, but is totally removing the entire thread the only option? Is just closing the thread, maybe with a short explanation by the Mod or Admin, as the last post, an option? We might learn from that, more so than from a thread vanishing. Just a thought and a curiousity.

Yes it's an option but when it requires many edits and removals of entire posts then sometimes it's best for removal. I am sure I know which thread you are probably referring to and there was numerous inappropriate replies that I was not comfortable with.
I'm sure you do know which thread I'm referring to...lol. I'd also agree about the inappropriateness of several of the comments. Thanks for the explanation. I hadn't thought about the vast editing that might be needed to preserve a thread.
