Has anyone seen or tried any methods to simulate the rise and fall of the tides?

I have seen something like that. Google the "carlson surge device" developed by one of the guys over at the Waikiki aquarium.

Steven, I'm not sure if you are talking about raising and lowering your water to simulate the tides, or if you mean wave type action, like jetaero mentioned?

I wondered the same thing myself. If you meant a full tank of water at one part of the day and a lower level of water during another time of the day, then I don't think it will serve much purpose in an aquarium. If you are referring to wave action simulated in the ocean then you can check out the link Nikki and Jataero mention and also, Tunze make a wave box where you could check it out at one of the sponsors Reef Exotics http://www.acropora.net/tunzebox.htm HTH
