Yesterday morning before the lights came on I noticed a branch coming out of the side of my toadstool. I thought cool, I am getting a baby toadstool. However, yesterday afternoon I noticed the branch was actually a piece of Kenya tree which is attached to the toadstool! I am thinking I should remove this, but it seems when I cut back the kenya (which is growing like a weed in my tank) I never get rid of it, the stub grows back quickly. Any thoughts on how to remove this without harming the toadstool? Here is a picture:

i have gsp's around the base of my toadstool, and have not noticed any adverse effects, at least its acted the same. I would let it get bigger and try to peel it off the rock maybe, if you cut it, like you said youll quickly grow a nub back

The Kenya is actually attached to the stalk of the toadstool, about 1 inch up from the rock the toadstool is attached to. So far the toadstool is still opening fully but I am concerned that the kenya is the more aggressive of the two and it will eventually kill the toadstool.

Just scrape it off with your thumb nail.....?

I rub algea off mine, sure it will close up for a short time but it will be ok.

i started a mini for kenyas , no skimmer and tiny compact 50 50's

they grow great.

Duh! I feel stupid. I reached in the tank and grabbed the kenya to see how firmly it was attached and it came off with only a slight tug. I had really worried about how to get this off the toadstool and it turned out to be so easy!
