Too many bubbles in sump

Hey i just recently added a sump system to my aquarium and the pipe going from the overflow box, to the sump has way too many bubbles. It has almost created its own protein skimmer with all the bubbles. My protein skimmer is now not picking anything out of the water. how do I bring down the level of these bubbles? here is a picture that I have attached.

use a filter sock on the drain into the sump. also it looks as if there are no baffles in the sump. that would make it imposdsible to manage bubbles..

Do you have a stockman or Durso standpipe in your overflow box? If not try putting one of those in and it will help to eliminate some of the bubbles.
