too much algea

Is there such a thing as having to much algea in your refugium? I have a HOB refugium, and it is packed with algea. Should I trim it or something? It grows super fast.Wont be able to respond to any questions untill 3 am, after work. thanks

With algae you will want to cut it back and export some if it. How it works with nutrient export is it binds up the excess nitrates and phosphates which it uses to grow so leaving it in the system is not a good thing. So just cut it back some and allow it to grow out again
