Hey all

After a very heated debate with my wife I manged to talk her into a 5 foot aquarium and now I am trying to decied what to get. My choices are either a top fin 120 gal tank 60" x 18" by 26" from Pet Smart or the Hagen 108 gal tank 60" x 18" x 24" from my LFS either way I will be buying the tank contents from my LFS. I am wondering what would be a better tank to go with either way I am going to have to go wtih MH lighting to get down that far which is fine but I am not sure what will be a better quality tank.

I like the idea of a 120 gal just because of the extra size but I don't know

Can anyone help me out

are these RR?
and with 24 or 26" you could use T5 just fine and not go MH..will save of heating and electricity....if you really want to save on electric cost, LED is the way to go.

to me it comes down to how well made the tanks are..how good and tight are the silicon seals? i assume both tanks have a brace??

could u post a pic?

IMO almost all the Top Fin tanks that I've ever had or seen have defects in the silicone. Last one I purchased leaked during the water test phase.

I would check around for an Aqueon (All Glass Aquariums) tank, they are the standard go to for glass tanks. Either that or check and see if your LFS can get a Marineland tank with Starphire glass.

Cheers,
Alex

+1 on what Alex said...AGA or Marineland RR tank is your better bet esp for durability..the last thing you (or your wife) wants is a leaking tank in the house...trust me...:D
