i was wondering if anyone keeps this coral :) ... i was looking at a website and i fell in love with it.
they had it as tubs' starbright lokani (Glowing Turquoise Blue with Fluorescent Neon Green Polyps)
does anyone know if it's hard to take care of (my list keeps getting bigger  ) do they need to much light, do have to feed it ? in general if anyone knows anything i'd appreciate it :D

I have this coral, although mine did not come from John aka tubs. It is a deepwater coral. Mine is this exact color. I keep it in the top third of my tank right under a 250w 10k reeflux. It loves a lot of flow. The polyps only extend with lights off. Its not one of the easiest acropora...

hmmmm Lokani.......I love em. You have me drooling with just the word. Please post a picture.

Mine came from LiveAquaria and was grown by Rafael of The Coral Nursery for LA. I bet John got his from Rafe too. It is a gorgeous piece.

Mine is actually called the 20,000 leagues lokani. It came through LA and since John{tubs} and Tyree are in the same neck of the woods I bet they are of the same strain of lokani. With as difficult as some of these are mine is most probably the fastest growing acropora in my tank.

lol!!
don't get me start here,, ,,i got it and growing well ,sorry didn't mean to HJ

this is the one i was talking about :D .

wow, mine doesn't look anything like that. Mine has the bright green flourescent polyps, deep blue tips that fade into a lighter blue-ish creamy body color.

sadly John is not in the hobby any longer. He let the exoticreef site go over to someone else and John is no longer selling frags. I think he even took his tank down. Had to make more time with family.

I was selling frags through John's exoticreef site.

http://www.exoticreefs.us/ This front page covers what John is doing. The site most probably hasn't been updated. I can promise you this piece is no longer available from John. And I don't know who got any of that coral...

Thats for sure Kevin, John was one of the originals in sps coral collection and he will be missed. I am wondering why so many of the originals are leaving the hobby. Maximus aka Sang left a few weeks back and I very luckily got a few of his awesome pieces.

Dang I wish I had a camera. I have so many pics in my head that I'd love to be able to take pics of and show them.

NO!!! darn it .... such a pretty coral :(.

A few years ago (OK maybe 5-6) my son and I flew down to the Bay area to see Wayne Shang and met John at the club meeting. He was quite active in the club and hobby at that time. He is also quite the web designer.

Regards,
Kevin

how cool Kevin, I'd of loved to meet John. I know I talked to him a number of times as working with him in the exotic frag endeavor. It was great while it lasted. I think John just got burnt out. Then he and his wife had a "surprise" baby. He just had too many irons in the fire..
