I recently started using bio-pellets to reduce nitrates and phosphates. I started with the TLF550 reactor but it wouldn't tumble properly. There was too much clumping. I think the intake port is just too small to allow proper flow. I switched to a Reef Octopus reactor and it works much better. My issue is how fast should the pellets tumble? Some say it should be gentle and some that they should really move. Which is correct and does it really matter as long as the pellets don't clump and are moving somewhat.
