Tunze Salt?

Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

The last time I was in and they were still waiting on Tunze to produce new batches, so I ended up buying the Brightwell aquatics reef marine salt instead. While I don't like the price, it requires no buffering and is extremely clean. I went to clean my salt mixing vessel after I did my last water change, and the pump and the container were spotless. No crud like you get with most salts. Might be something to consider if you cant find any tunze.

Brie, What is the price on the neomarine by brightwell? The prices i'm finding online aren't much different than Tunze for the buckets. If you get down to by the gallon produced online prices are showing the brightwell to actually be cheaper than Tunze.

Errmmm I don't remember off hand, i'm off work today. ;) I can get back to ya in the morning though when I get to the shop. If I recall its not much different then Tunze.

Hi Ron,

The latest update for Tunze is May. They decided not to rush things and make sure the product and packaging is perfect before they start shipping again.

I believe Brightwell is 79.99 for the bucket and 34.99 for the bag. That's from memory. Sorry if I'm off. Hopefully Brie can correct me if it's wrong:)

is the brightwell better than tunze

Its better buffered and "cleaner." The Tunze still left some residue in my mixing buckets. Just depends if the increase in price is worth it to you, and how much salt your going through.

Ok yep, its 34.99 for the 50gal bag, and 79.99 for the 150g bucket. We are however currently out of buckets.
