anyone have these and why do you think that they are worth the extra money? i noticed some of you have these and i would like to hear your thoughts on them

I have 2 Tunzes and love them! Even the one that doesn't have a controller is worth it to me. They give a nice wide flow, but I have to tell you, the Seio's aren't bad either for the price:)

if i got one, it would be the 6060 prob. for my tank size it doesn't have a controller. do yours' cause too much flow?

I have the 6060 and the 6010 kit on my 75gal and it isn't too much flow. Infact, my fish love to swim against the flow! But tunze is bringing out smaller versions for like nano cubes etc that look really nice! The head can even be rotated up and down and they should be out real soon if you want a Tunze, with less flow than 1600gph. Have you seen them yet (the new ones coming out)? If not, I can find you the link, but in any event, if the flow is too strong for you on the 6060, just deflect it off of a tank wall and it should tone it down a bit:)

those look nice. i may try the 6055 or the 6060 .where did you buy them from?

I bought my 6060 and 6010 kit from one of the sponsor's here (Premium Aquatics) The 6055 isn't out yet, but when I talked to Rob from Premium Aquatics when I first saw the nano streams, I think he said that he had heard they would be out in around September or so...:)

I got the Seio 820 and there pretty good. I heard you cannot run them on a timer like the tunze, but are a heck of alot cheaper.

Ron,
I bought them trying to be conservative on electricity. Their large Tunze 6200 produces about 5300 gph flow. That is not a concentrated flow like a 3/4 inch out put with a external pump. My external pumps were using more electricity. The Tunze 6200 uses 62 watts of electricity. They produce very little heat. My 1/4 horse chiller seems to be enough to cool my tank, knock on wood so far. I do have a trick that I think contributes to that also. That trick being that my metal Halides move back and forth, I want to think that this keeps my operating temps lower also.
I hope this helps,
Ed:)

where can i look at th seio?

I had 2 of the 820's as well and they did one hell of a job. One thing with Seio's, you can't beat their mounting options! You can get Seio's from 620 gph up to 2600gph with the 2600gph one costing under $70! One of our sponsors here as well as a regular poster Bob sells them and is a really cool guy. Maybe you can check his website out! Here is his page that shows the Seio's and their pricing:)

I have two 6100s on my 75g both with singletrollers on them. I really like them. I can say there is not a lack of flow in my tank. LOL

They are smaller than the Tunzes. I'll see if I can dig up an old photo of my 90gal that had the Seio's in it:)

that seio looks just like a tunze. do they put out the wide flow like the tunze?

Yeah, they get pretty wide flow similar to the Tunze. It's hard for me to make an accurate comparison between these Seio's to my Tunzes because my Tunzes are double the gph, but nevertheless, I loved them..:)

do they really look the same or am i looking at them wrong? it looks like the seio has the wide circular output like the tunze, but on their website, they look different. do they come apart or something?

Right, the picture on the website is with the flow director piece attached. However, that half of the Seio can be removed & then the unit mounted sideways to have the wide flow (all necessary hardware is included to mount sideways).

I have 2 of the 1100's & they work great. I use them with the magnetic holders made by Algae Free, which work very well (albeit a bit expensive).

HTH,

Rob

ronj how big is your tank and what are the dimensions ? Also what are you planning to keep ?

In a reef tank you need good flow but be careful with LPS especially Euphyllias my Seio 1100 ripped a large piece of flesh off my Hammer but I have a cube. The Tunze is a much better product and definitely more reliable, my Seio's stick all the time, you need to soak them or run them in vinegar regularly especially if you drip Kalk.
