HI there,

I have a 100 gallon established FOWLR and a 30 gallon established reef... was wondering how hard it would be to turn the all rock FOWLR into a reef by switching out everything from the smaller tank and adding to existing rock? do i need to do anything special to the rock already in the big tank? does it need to be a gradual move or can it be done immediately?

thanks!

As long as your water parameters are sufficient to maintain the coral you want to keep and you have the correct lighting for them you should be good to go. Depending on what type of coral it is would depend on how fast you can add it. Softies and zoas and mushrooms you could probably add quite a bit all at one time without any problems. SPS and LPS you will want to add slowly though while checking your calc and alk to keep it stable.

What I would be more concerned about is what you have for fish and are they reef safe? Will any of them eat your coral?
