I'm looking to get a video cam corder so I can video tape my daughter growing up. I found this one that is also water proof. does any one here have experience with this? Here is a link to it.

I've got this one (http://sanyo.com/xacti/english/products/vpc_wh1/index.html), kinda the newer fancier version of the one you are looking at - Here's what I've found with it.

- No custom white balance, so the underwater videos are a little blue, depending on your lighting
- For indoor videos, you need great lighting... doesn't take good video in low light
- You loose HD quality when using zoom, as long as you don't use zoom, your images are pretty good quality.
- The HD is probably upscaled, it doesn't seem like "perfect" HD. It is a shame that it only goes up to 720P.
- Videos in natural light are great, and it is really easy to use, anyone can figure it out. It handles abuse quite well.
- And of course, it does go underwater! It is really nice that it uses SD cards, since they are cheap and very easy to come by.

Those are some nice videos and BLUE! Too bad it doesn't have a white balance function. I want something that I can slip into my pocket and this looks to be a good candidate.

I didn't look at your link and it is the same as the second one that I posted. I just read some quick reviews on it and most say that the one yo have doe not hold the seal well and water leaked into it. How has your experience been with yours?

Yup, records sound just fine - its amazing how noisy our tanks are underwater.

And nope, never had a problem with leaking - the slot that holds the memory card has a little seal on it, and as long as you make sure its locked in I don't see any place where it would leak. I haven't bothered to look for reports on leaking, don't care :)

I've had mine for over a year, no leaks.. I would guess many of the leaks are due to people not locking the component covers into place.

Estanoche took a couple underwater videos, in my tank, awhile back. If they aren't on her YouTube link, let me know and I'll upload them. Actually, I believe they're already uploaded on my 200 build thread. I was pretty impressed!!

I've got a JVC GR-D770u, but I seem to have lost the charger for it, so haven't used it since I purchased it...lol.

Need to find a charger!! Oh, it's not at all water proof!!

theres a thread on a different forum that uses the kodak water proof camera it looks pretty sweet also ill send u a link sarang
