Updates Needed! 5+ years away

Hi All,

I'm needing some updates from everyone. I am thinking about setting up a new tank. Specifically a 40 gallon breeder. Two goals I have; 1. Not spend a fortune. & 2. Get all live stock tank raised / grown. I am very realistic about what the costs are for setting up a reef aquarium. I also know that I need a solid community to accomplish my two goals. Is RF a good place to find equipment and livestock? What other sources are good? Any updates and tips would be greatly appreciated.

The used 40's are pretty cheap. I bet if you get softies and mostly rock and sand you can fill it up for under $500.

Join a local club. Many of the locals have extra equipment in between the upgrades that gather dust. Also many of the local non chain stores make deals on used set ups and great advise on basic needs to get you goin.
Plan each purchase to be incorporated to the next system. You can never stop with just one...lol. A 40B can be made into a all-in-one with silicone and partitions on one end and makes a perfect QT for future.
