Upgrade pump on urchin

A friend of mine has a 55g reef tank and is running a urchin protein skimmer in his sump with a maxi-jet 1200 (not the pro model). It is producing skimmate, but can you put a larger pump or powerhead on it to get it to produce better or more? I know that the pro models run larger pumps, but can the injector on the regular model handle more flow?

I talked with Jason the President of AquaC about this Exact Issue... He stated that using a bigger pump would more than Likely do more harm than good and that all the pumps designated to be used with the pumps were the ones that performed the best... You can Try it but I think you would see decreased performance from it...
