I already have more electrical chords snaking around the aquarium stand than I ever thought I'd need. But there isn't one I'd go without.

So I'm reluctant to add any more.

But... what about a UV Sterilizer? I've heard the benefits, kills parasites, helps in algae control. And I've heard people claim that they also kill plankton in the tank. That wouldn't be good for a reef tank, would it?

So I'm interested in some opinions. How necessary is a UVS?

Actually I have one from an old system. A Turboflow. It needs a new bulb and a new powerhead for water flow. I rather not spend the money.

But I do have a cyno problem. So I was wondering if that wasn't one of the answers.

Think I'll just think on it for awhile.
