Terry,
I have heard of a few venomous fish that are available in pet shops. The type of fish I am talking about is a blenny. I have heard that particular types of blennys have the abiliity to bite and inject toxins into other fish. Can you help me and others out by explaining this fish or fish like this? I think it is a canary blenny that I read about. Can you refresh my memory please?

Thanks in Advance,
Ed

There called fang blennys. I had a yellowtail fang blenny in my reef for sometime untill he got eaten by my anemone. The canary blenny is definintly in the same family. I'm not sure how potent there toxin is but they never really seem to bother other fish and other fish never seem to bother them in my experience. Very cool fish. Hope this helps.

There are several species of fang blennys. There are usually peaceful except with some other blennys. Yes, the canary blenny is one of them. They are not the hardiest of fish. Most of them are not aggressive although the Plagiotremus rhinorhynchos or cleaner wrasse mimic will bite another fish or a diver. The bite is painful so don't hand feed or handle them.

Cheers,
Terry B
