I recently had a disaster in my tank were all of my fish died about a month ago. The only thing that survived in the tank was the lunare wrasse. well after saving the tank i am finally beginning to restock it. What I have found is that when I put a new fish in, the wrasse is very aggressive to the new comers. He has been the onl;y one in my 110 tall for over a month now. Is their anything I can do to lower the aggression in him when I introduce new fish into the tank??

Well you cant get him neutered, but you can turn your tank into an aggressive only tank. I had a mean lunare wrasse in my reef and he not only picked on the fish but nipped at my corals, so i had to trade him in at the LFS, he was a pain to catch, but i finally got him

bbauer,

There are numerous fish that tend to get a little on the "Bossy" side... especially when adding a new companion. What has helped in the past for me, is if while I'm acclimating my new additions... I take some time and do a re-aquascape in my tank. This seems to break those territorial boundaries, and has help me when introducing a new fish out of my quarenteen tank.

P.S. I highly recomment you quarenteen any new addition... for more information about that do a search here, there are several excellent threads!

i was i could neuter him then he would settle down and i wouldnt have thoughts about getting rig of him. That fish is so crazy sometimes i think hes on crack.

lunare wrasses can be a real pain as they get bigger and will harass almost everything in the tank that is added after it. If anything the best thing i can think of is to move the wrasse to a qt tank until your tank is restocked and everything is back together then return the wrasse.

Good Luck

That would be your best option, let your stock make it home long enough to get established first but this fish my still eventually want to take over, so then you install a shark:D no don't do that LOL you may want to reconsider keep it.

Yeah they are a very neat fish but they have a serious attitude problem!

I think a shark would be a great idea! I bet you that would straighten that wrasses @SS out!
