Ok, i have a 12g nano and it is hard to keep the temp stable. At night with the lights off and the little fans not on, the temp is at around 81-83. And during the day with the lights are on and fan is going its gets around 74-77. Now I cant turn off the fans unless the lights are off. and because of this my Catalina goby has Ick. I need some advice here, I dont know what to do here, but Im sure its something simple/stupid. Things were soo much easier with my 55g :(

Yea smaller tanks can be tough. As log as your house/apt temp stays level it sounds like its the fans. See if you can disconect them.

If the temp is going up when the lights are off and the fans are off something else is creating heat if I am understanding this correctly. Do you have any powerheads or anything that might be warming up the tank? Can you rewire the fan so it runs constantly? Check the heater setting and your house temp too. My 2cents.

I agree, that sounds backwards. Usually it's the lights that create so much heat, in which case you can normally just install more (or faster) fans. Your Catalina Goby might not be happy in the long run even in the upper 70s though, since they live in waters that are typically in the 60s. They're really more of a sub-tropical fish.

hhmm, well ill find out what the temp is in here, then ill try somehow to keep the fans going constantly. Im not really liking the way this nano was constructed, when the i turn the lights to the left the blue night lights go on, then i turn it to the middle and everything is off, then i turn it to the right and the lights go on and the fans go on also. not liking the temp change in my tank at all, now my little goby is full of ICK and im treating with Kick-Ick. Thank you for your replies.
