Water Volume

I have a little 7gal bowfront I was thinking about setting up. If I do, my sump would at least be a 20gal.

mmkeeper: What are you planning? I plan on having around 4-500 gallons on sump/fuge etc with a 144 display. Problem I am having is figuring out how to set it up. I was going to use LR but everyone is telling me no.

No plans do to lack of space. I have just noticed in seeing some of the member showcase that several seem to have alot more water volume outside of the display tank.

I'm almost there. I have a 55 gallon display & 45 gallon sump. I did just great with a 20 gallon sump though too. I was just thinking about going bigger one of these days on the display, so figured I'd go with a bigger sump b/c I have the room to do it, so why not, ya know

I have a 125g display & a 60g sump, that is the new rule of thumb:D
No actually there is no rule of thumb, set-up what you can, more water is better but sometimes you have to just adjust to what you have, like doing more wc's!
2 cents :)

I have no water outside my display and everything has been fine. I certainly agree it would be ideal to have a sump. I have a few hangups such as the fact that I live on a second floor though.
