I'm looking for above the tank wave maker plans. I want to pump the water out of the tank into a chamber above the tan then when the chamber becomes full enough to force the door open it lets out the wave. Here is a idea of what I'm looking for. A pump/power head would fill the chamber then the door would open when gravity (the weight of the water over powers the syrofoam and open the door. Would this work? Any ideas/ plans. I would love any help i can get. I'm hoping for a 2 gallon chamber volume.

Welcome to RF!! There is a surge device that people have DIY'd that does something similar. Maybe even a thread here on it. I'll see what I can find:)

OneHawksFan, SaltWaterCity has a setup and you can see it there

I'm not sure your original idea would work. If you are going to have your styrofoam on a a pivot point I believe the styrofoam would open slowly as the weight of the water increased and release the water in trickle form instead of one big surge.
