A week after the large spawning event I am soory to report that I have lost 9 out of 50 clams. First two days everything looked pretty good. The next two days lost three croceas and two maximas (one black and white). The last couple of days lost two smaller squamosas and two more croceas. Barry indicated when clams spawn some make it some don't. I felt I was out of the woods. I have not lost an established clam in a real long time. Croceas lost foot hold and fell, mostly retracted in their shell. All the larger clams look good and water parameters are good. Hopefully the rest will be O.K. Thanks for all your support- I take losses like this real personal.

What a bummer! Sorry to hear this. :( It doesn't seem that there's anything you could have done to prevent it, though.

So what is it about a spawning that kills the clams? What happens to the water quality? Ammonia? Or....?
