Hey!

I have a good sized Clarkii clown and I noticed today that one of it's eyes is protruding outward. It is just the eye, does not look swollen around the eye socket area or anything. It just looks like it was popped out from the inside! I had an African Cichlid a few years back that happened to and it went away in a week or so.

ANy ideas??

Thanks, Colleen

Sounds like pop-eye.

could have been cause by trauma to the eye.

You could try to remove the fish and medicate, I read that epsom salt is a good fix, or you could just wait it out. Keep an eye on the fish to make sure no secondary infections spring up. As long as your water parameters are in good shape and the fish is not getting harrased , I think the latter is the better option.

Got a pic? Sounds like pop-eye but it could be something else.

Yes, I agree. I have a Coral Beauty who got popeye and I waited it out as removal would have been dificult. The fish recovered in a couple of weeks and is now fine, make sure he is still eating so on..
