Weird Growing Things!

i dont know what they are. there is about 250+ of these little white spikes that grow all over my rock. I've asked local fish stores and they just say they are little calcium things or whatever but i figured id shoot you guys a message. im sure you guys have seen these little things or at least felt them when picking up your rock and find one stuck in your finger. idk what they are, do you?

I'd google Vermetid Snails. Bet that's it. Otherwise, a pic would sure help.

Is it like this? A pineapple sponge maybe? I get them growing behing powerheads, in skimmer chamber and on live rock.

When you say "stuck in your finger" throws a lot of possible ideas out of the window for me. As suggested, see if you can get a pciture and also, if may be in your best interest to wear gloves when handling rocks as there are many things in the tank that can really harm you.
