Hey everyone,

I found a good amount of these critters poking out through my sand bed. I just happened to find this guy on my glass this morning before the lights turned on for the day. I just happened to catch it on camera before it disappeared back into the sand.

So my questions are of the normal:

1. What are they?

2. Are they good or bad for a reef tank?

3. If bad, how do I remove them?

Thanks,
Derrick

Spaghetti Worms! Harmless detritus eater, but can multiply quickly.

I agree.
they can irritate corals such as zoas and keep them from opening up which will result in the zoas dying. but otherwise good for clean up.

I just got some from indo-pacific sea farms as part of a detrivore kit. I haven't put them in yet. Should I not? Don't want something that's going to bother corals.

Well, they dont really bother other corals so much as they do zoas. If you get any in your zoa colony, you can always kill those, but they are good as cleaners.

If I had them in my tank, which I did and probably still do, as long as they were not in a zoa colony, I would leave them in.

Thanks everyone! I do have zoas mid way down the tank nd I haven't really had much issue besides my hermits crawling up and over them as far as I can tell.
