I've had some of this stuff growing in among my zoas and I think it might be killing them. Anyone know what this is, if it's a pest, and how to get rid of it?

Thanks for the help, Sculpin

Sponge
Nothing to worry about. I don’t think they have any affect on zoas but I could be wrong. Maybe just them being there touching them is causing them to close up.

I agree, it does look like sponge.
Myself,,, I would try and peel it away from the zoanthids, with some tweezers.

Definately sponge. I have ton's of that stuff. You should try nto removeit from the area of the zoas. It won't hurt them by any means, but can compete for space and stunt their growth.

I read that sponges have some of the most toxic chemical allelopathyto our corals, and that having them in close contact with zoas can kill them. hth
