I'm interested in finding out what everyone has as their photoperiod. How many hours, and what type of lighting? If you've had problems with longer or shorter photoperiods than your current one, then mention that as well. Also, if your lights come on for different lengths could you break it down (i.e. VHO = X hours, MH = Y hours, etc.)?

Thanks everyone!!

This has worked well for me and the corals, I hate to have the lights on while I am at work, this way I get to enjoy the tank before bed.

75 gal with

2x250 watt XM20ks on from 10:30 am to 9 pm
2x110 watt URI White Actinics on from 9:30 am to 10 pm.

Color is nice, but will try XM10ks with the blue actinics VHOs maybe later.

The 20ks are actually whitish with only hint of blue once they're burnt in, though less PAR than 10ks.

Do I need to leave my MH light on longer?

I have a 53g tank (31.5" x 19.5" x 19.5"). My light fixture has one 10k 150w MH and 4 24w T5's (2 Blue+ and 2 Super Actinic). Currently, I have my T5's lit 10 hours a day (noon till 10pm) and my MH is lit for 5 hours a day (4pm till 9pm). Should I increase the MH photo period and if so, for how long?
I have a sabae Anemone in the tank, one Crocea clam, a handful of LPS corals, and just added my first SPS corals to my 9 month old tank. I think I had a shorter period for the MH, because I didn't have anything in the tank that needed a ton of light, but now I'm wondering with the SPS and Anemone, if I should extend the MH to a 6, 7 or 8 hour range.
Thanks!
Pam

Wow, resurrected this thread from the depths of the archives, eh?

I have a standard 120 (4x2x2). Lighting is:

10:00 2x39w T5 Bank 1 Actinic ON
10:30 2x39w T5 Bank 2 Actinic ON
11:00 2x250w DE Phoenix 14K ON
21:00 2x250w DE Phoenix 14K OFF
21:30 2x39w T5 Bank 1 Actinic OFF
22:00 2x39w T5 Bank 2 Actinic OFF

The Phoenix is an extremely blue 14K. This, in addition to (4) actinic T5HO bulbs makes for an awfully blue lighting. I'll probably change the Phoenix out for Hamilton (whiter) next bulb.
