What the heck is this??????

What is this?????

I found it in my tank tonight. The tank is 6-7 months old. It kinda blended with the rock. But, then when I pocked it with a tong, it looked like it sucked up a bit tighter to the rock.

So, I pried it off the coral. The shell looks what I would call "potato bug" one might find in your garden. The inside looks like a clam, or mussel.

If I see more, do I leave them, or take 'em out?

These things are great I love them. They will eat there weight in algae every day. Serious algae mowers

Ya its one. The only difference is that that the one you have does not have any algae on its back. Mine do not have any algae and look exactly like yours. My tangs picked it off of them.

Oh wait, the other item. Yep, definitely a Chiton. Keep it!!! Put it back in your tank!! Not the penny, the Chiton.

It is definitely a chiton. I am amazed that you were even able to get it off of the surface that thing was on. They have one hell of a grip.
