My brother and sister in law are having trouble with two blue green chromis in their tank. The only other fish that they have is a yellow tang and he puts them in their place, so they don't bother him. They have tried different fish but these two chromis start attacking and kill any other fish. I am going down there (Bend, OR) this weekend and I am taking my fish trap and see if we can catch them. I want to see if there is an alternative if we can't catch them. I told her that she probably doesn't have enough chromis because they like to school and just 2 have turned into there own little gang. I don't know for sure if increasing the number would calm these two down. Also, if they get more aggressive fish, would this help? Any information would be a big help. I am trying to help them regain control of their tank.

If we can catch them they will be banished to their LFS. Besides they don't have a sump, just a HOB filter.

These particular fish do not take well to a 'mental adjustment.' That is, once they are settled into this mode, they won't change. Best to move them out. However, their behavior can be due in part to lack of space. Since you don't mention the size of the aquarium/system, it may be that more fish are not easily supported by the system and the fish are hoarding resources.

As far as catching them, it should pose little problem. Most hobbyists are smarter than fish -- most. This read may help: http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/f15/catching-fish-15768/

Good luck!

Their tank is a 45 gallon hexagon and they have about 30 pounds of live rock. The only fish they have is those two chromis and a yellow tang. They don't use a sump, just a HOB filter.
