I've done better at getting coral shots now, but i still have gotten no fish shots really that i have liked, specifically when trying to do fish macros it's i find it really hard to get them in focus, am i just lacking in patience?

In my humble opinion, you set yourself up, aim at where you know your fish like to hang out and then have patience. Wait, wait have a fast shudder speed then TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES! :D  :)

I am horrible at taking pictures of corals but I have a few decent fish shots.

Use shutter priority, keep the speed as fast as possible, and shoot perpendicular to the glass and you should be good. Having a lens with that has fast focusing ability (Like Canon's USM, etc) and good IQ will help out a ton. I would also use a fast piece of glass, something at least F/2.8.
