I want to know what you guys think would be the best cam body to get and lense combo.

Nikon/Canon doesnt matter.Want a lense that is going to give the best marco shots for carol pics. Also could you suggest a good lense for taking pics of item that i faraway.

Yes i know that the photographer do need to be good also.

The ups guy just brought me a new T1i. A bit overwhelming for my photo skills but sure looks to be a nice camera.

No I won it in a photo contest. It came with a lense I think 15-55. Does that sound right. They go for about $850. 15mp and does 1080p video.

Anybody know a good cam body and lense combo for that kinda money?

Usually can't go wrong with a Nikon, plenty of lens choices and a wide choice of price range. I think my son is using the D50.

I am using a Pentax K100, I went with pentax as I had an old Pentax 35mm with several lenses and am using the old lenses on the new camera (but they have to be manually set). Pentax doesn't have a very good Macro lens, but I am not sure they are worth the money anyways, once you get some shots of your corals how often will you use it (I haven't convinced myself it is worth it to spend $800 on a lense that I will only use occasionally). I am faking macro shots using the standard kit lens along with magnifying filters and it is good enough for me at this point.

right now i am using the pentax k 110d.It is a very good cam but would just like to be able to step up a little. For macro now i am shooting with a 70-300mm 1:4, TELE-MACRO (1:2).

It just doesnt get me as close as i would like to the coral.I think is was $600-$800 for a good macro for the pentex

You should try a magnifying filter kit, only around $30 and you get closer shots with existing lens

This coral was about 15-17" back from the front of the tank
