Which skimmer to get

If it's me I'd select the R version since it's recirculating. This allows some of the water in the chamber to be recirculated which is supposed to provide more contact time with the bubbles. But either one of them is better than nothing.

Well they don't have any of the recirculating ones in stock so will I still be fine going with the other?

Probably 4 days..it was free shipping so that made it only 30$ more than the other cant beat that price! :D I found it on another site

So still a fairly new product. Looks like a pretty good design though. Looks like others are pretty happy with it so that's a good sign.

Let us know when you get it up and running. Keep in mind it won't skim all that much the first few days. It can take a skimmer a couple hours to a few days to break in and start producing the gunk.

He showed a pic on another post of it pulling gunk the first 5 minutes of use so who knows, it seems solid and i'm glad i went with it

Two questions...When should I start removing Bioballs and am I going to still need a filter pad or something to catch small particles or is the skimmer going to do that for me?

I'd still use a filter pad to catch the big stuff. Just make sure you either replace or clean it regularly.

Well I mean the biggest stuff I get are small pieces of shrimp...I'm not sure where to put the pad now that the skimmer will be in the place where I put it! What about the bioballs?

Remove them and throw them in the garbage. You'll never need them again. Can you make a small shelf in the first chamber to set the filter media on. Put it just below where the overflow is and then the water can flow over and then through media prior to moving on to the next chambers. I don't know if this will work or not since I've personally never seen cube you have.

Overflows onto the filter pad aka where the water will fall into the skimmer
