I have a white mucus/spider web type subsatnce growing on some LR. It resembles a thick looking spider web and has what appears to be some type of trunicate shaped sprouts coming out of it. LR been in tank for seven years and have never seen this before. Any ideas what this could be and is it harmful, helpful should I discard LR, naturally it's on the bottom.

I agree. Harmless but will take over a tank.
I have them all over my nano. I've heard its from excess nutriants, But I haven't had a fish in that tanks for a year, and use rodi for weekly wcs.
So I will be tagging along to see what others say to do.

sounds like vermetid snails, there harmless

Np i have em all over the place... these are the thing that will make your tank "established"

when you stirr up a storm and it only tanks your tank 5 min to clear back up its cause of these little "spider webs"

dont worry its normal... dont try 2 interveen just let em do there part and you will be happy
