I have to ask...I will post the thread that I am currently getting flamed for on my local club here....and I will post it just as it is posted there. But I am curious....why would a shark attack a Hippo tang? Could it be due to feeding going on? What could I have done to avoid this? I feed with lights out....by a couple hours....to avoid exactly this. But on this night the tang was not hiding.

yea lights will have no effect as they hunt and feed via electrical impulse, actually a very very unbelieveable electrical impulse. To be honest I would not keep anything in their with it, not even another shark. I have seen cases where two sharks (about a foot and change long) that had lived together for a long time, eventually kill one. SO its a case of if you want one, then one you get, unless you start up another tank.

hmm.....now that is something I didn't consider. I guess I took the whole cichlid approach thinking if it is larger than the other one's mouth that it would be safe. My tang was 4 inches....the shark 8....sharks mouth...maybe 1.

Thank you both for the input. Now I have to consider finding a new home for one of these 2. Or as Mojo pointed out....set up another tank.

Question. Does this go for all sharks? I have seen video's with a bottom dweller like a bamboo in tanks with black tips....is the risk factor the same?

Second question....what are risk factors for blue dot stingray in tank with shark?

Like living on the edge their Reeflogic?? LOL Cichlids, balck tips, blue dots?/?? now say after me...."must watch sharks/rays on TV and have nice things in my tanks" ...OK your turn?? lol

I have seen it before but again you never know with species like that.

lol.....ok....I keep trying to say that....but I get stuck right after must watch sharks/rays on TV. I have found that, for me anyway, "nice" things = boring things. This is why I went aggressive in FW and am now doing so in SW.

I'm getting better though....first time I tried to say it all that came out was "must watch TV"
