I have had mixed reports. Some saying a BTA will not host a Flase Percula, others saying it will. Some say a Maroon clown is best for BTA. Has anyone had any luck with a false Percula and a BTA or should I trade it in for a Maroon Clown. And, I have read mixed reports about mixing these two. Some say they have, some say the Maroon will kill the Perc once it is grown. Has anyone tried and what happened?

Dont mix clowns unless you have lots of room, and are prepared to remove the loser or winner. LOL Clowns that want to host will host in whatever is available, hammer corals, anchor corals, frogspwan, mushrooms, most anemone. A bulb tip is a easier anemone to keep, and I have seen them host percs and occe. clowns or the true and the false clowns.

My experience with clowns was an interesting one. I had, at one point, 2 percs, 1 tomato, 1 sebae and 1 black and white perc none of which payed any attention to my anemone. One thing I learned with clownfish is it is best to add them all together at one time because everytime I added another one, the others beat him up. I had to eventually take out the sebae because the black and white perc never let him rest. About the maroons, I heard that they will kill the others so I never got one.

In reference to your question, it simply depends on your fish. They may all be of the same species but they have their own individualities. One person may have a clown that will take immediately to a anemone or whatever host, and another may never be so lucky. I guess all you could do is try your luck.

I have a pair of false percs in a RBTA. When I first added them they completely ignored the anemone. It took them close to 4 months to finally settle in. I've seen the statistic of 50/50 on whether the false perc will host a BTA.

I have some false percs that were hosting in my anthelia. I added a RBTA and they immediately moved into it. They now spend more time in the anenome then they do swimming around. They also do not host in any of my other corals anymore, just the anenome.

I would say the BTA would be a safe bet, if your clowns are looking for a host (trying to host in your other corals). If not it might take some time and persuading. I heard you can tape a picture of clown fish hosting up on the glass to give them an idea of how to do it. I guess sometimes they just don't host.

I had a false perc in my green BTA and rose BTA he would go to each of them. Don't mind the avatar, that is my new pair of true percs.
