thanks and if I want to convert a 150watt Brinks DE light to a useable light for my tank what ballast would I use?

Would this MH light work on my 20 tall

this is the light I was talking about. Its just that I would take off the motion detector off of it, and attach a ballast. and use it.

Wow, I don't know that I'd even attempt it. You'd have to change out the light end caps, possibly the reflector (because the reflector is probably junk), and maybe even the wiring (if the wiring is too light of a gauge). The glass cover would also need to be replaced, as it'll block out way too much light. With a double ended MH bulb, you will have to have a glass cover, to block UV.

Again...... not a MH fixture. I know it is VERY tempting to short cut in this hobby but I strongly suggest for the best results to purchase the best equipment possible. I have tried the "short cut" methods and was woefully sorry I did. If you are looking for a MH fixture look to spend at LEAST $125-150 for one that will fit a 20 gallon. You can also shop around in the classifieds of various forums.

i jest bought a sunpod for 130 used its 20 inches so a used one is the way to go

You have to be careful with that cheap stuff. The ballast are usually junk and under fire the bulbs.

Yep, the odyssea's do, but not these guys. They work well. As i know of a few reefers and vendors that have used them for mths. And you can add t5's on the sides, for there price they are pretty unbeatable on the low end.
