I have a Lubbocks Fairy Wrasse I am really debating about getting a Mysteri Wrasse, is it ok if I get the Mysteri Wrasse and place them both in a 55 gallon reef tank

Wrasse Getting along

Be care full and check this further JR I have not allot of Wrasse experience but I have learned allot in dealing with My Leopard's
First You have to add all at the same time as they are very territorial. Mixing species I had to add a sixline in my 75 gallon tank ( It currently had 2 Leopards, and a Red Ornate Wrasse in it.) It was fine for awhile ( smaller than the others But now as it has grown it has singled out one Leopard and with fight with it. If i could catch the sixline it would be out. I hope you can get some positive feed back but be very sure before adding.. Good luck...Jeff

Thanks Jeff I have talked to alot of fish guys up around here and they say since the Fairy is so calm and so is the Mysteri it'd be ok but I wanted to see what people on here had t osay and to see if any one has ever done it...

Yeah they are I lke the frog or hammer in corner I need to get one or two more I love them...

With your tank size I wouldn't mix these two fish. The Lubbock is a bit more aggressive and will not really tolerate a different wrasse species being introduced. In a much larger tank it would be less of a concern but I would have introduced the mystery wrasse well before any other potential "reef safe" wrasse like the Lubbocks or other fairy/flasher/carpenters.

The firefish first most definatley. A 65 is not what I meant by much larger though, you'd need to double that.

I would also post a complete list of your current fish. You sound like your heading towards a very "calm" type of species group(s) that may not do well long term.

Pair helfrichi's
Mysteri Wrasse
3 green chromis
pair of Naked Clowns
the Lubbocks wrasse
maybe manderain goby or target
I would like to move my Kellogi seahorses in to the 65 instead of the 30 they are in

I would keep the horses seperate. You will also need to choose between the wrasse(s) and the Synchiropus sp. They will compete for the same food resources and deplete your tank of needed fauna. The Synchiropus can be trained to take prepared foods but natural foods should still be in abundance for daily grazing.

If these are the fish you like, this list would be a bit more successful.

Pair helfrichi's
Mysteri Wrasse
3 green chromis
pair of Naked Clowns

Too much more and your risking aggression problems and crowding. The firefish are a rather large concern. When spooked or continually freightend, they will hide on an ongoing basis. This can be a continued source of stress that will lead to lack of feeding and poor health.

I'm sure you've already researched this but you're aware the mystery wrasse commands a price around the $200.00 mark?

Cheers
Steve
