Hello everyone I have a 29 g zoa tank I have 17 diffent types as of right now but I have one that only 3-5 polps will open all the others always open just fine. I have been tsting my water and everything looks good I have tryed moving it to higher and lower flow and light. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks scott

I have added new zoas but it has never really opened since I got it. How would I check it for pest I can't see any if that helps

you dip new frags or corals before putting it to the tank...inspect for pest like nudis, spiders flatworms etc...
i use melafix,iodine and tmpcc...

Now I been reading some post and I'm not sure what they mean by dipping.

What I did when I dipped my zoanthids in the extra strong FWE solution was to take a 1/2 gallon of the tank water, add a 4x dose of FWE, stir it a little and then place the zoanthids in the dipping solution, for several minutes, swishing them around and using a magnifying glass looking for more critters and egg masses.

The freshwater dip is about the same only using freshwater and lugols iodine. I like to use a freshwater ph up to try and match the ph of the freshwater to that of the saltwater. Helps reduce stress on the coral while it's being dipped in freshwater.

So if I use fresh water dose it work aswell as melfix

Freshwater dips are only for preditor type pests such as nudibranchs and sea spiders.
If you don't see a wider area of closed up polyps and see nudibranchs, I'd do on of the medicated dips like a melafix or saltwater lugols or ReVive dip.

Okay so I did a chemical dip and a fresh water dip. I have no luck getting the pest of the zoa I think its a zoa eating spider dose anyone know how to get it to go away and how fast do these guy spread

Sometimes zoas disappear without an identifiable cause. Some folks have had good success with Vit C. I have been dosing and have lost 3 small zoa frags (4-5 polyps, but expensive stuff)...
