    Actually I never got around to trying your mesh mod skimerwhisperer as the extra air stones were working well at that time. Looks like it is time to give it a try. Thanks for your replies everyone.

    Hi, My skimmer, which I run wet used to get about a half cup of green tea colored skimmate with some solids on the tube. I modified it with extra airstones quite some time ago and saw a marked improvement. For about 6 months now even though I am running it so it should be pulling alot of water...

    I haven't had the opportunity to read the thread yet. But I have been cutting my photoperiod recently due mainly to temp. and I seem to have a happier tank. I look forward to reading the thread.

    Oh *sigh* that is not good news. Last night I put out some meaty food to see if I could entice the suspected mantis from it's den which I can't find. Don't know for sure if it is still in there. No luck. Maybe I can get the crab though. Thanks for the info. NaH2O.
