    hyposalimity or cupramine

I know my option is not very popular, but if your tang is fat and eating, i would just stick to feeding like crazy and keeping stable parameters to keep stress as low as possible. I tried cupramine like you and also lost my blue tang due to treatment. I realized you have to be super careful with...

    DIY azoo refrigerated feeding system?

For the sake of a senior project, I would go for option 2 as it seems to lend it self better towards a product design project. Option 1 is cool, but what will your project address that hasn't already been done by all the other controlled LED lighting systems available on the market?. Yes you'd...

Shane's DIY LED Project with lots of help!!

Just some of my input from my latest LED redesign build. IMO the normal blues can easily overpower and wash out an LED setup resembling the look of windex. I just recently used 2 blues in my 46 total LED setup and noticed that around 90% of 1 Amp, they start to become too much, so i can only...

    LED lights???

I believe marineland's first run of LED's were .5 watt emitters. Their newest LED setups use 1W led's which are still on the weaker side. These would really only be sufficient for some low light soft corals. Probably isn't suitable for many lps and definitely not SPS.

Phasezero's DIY Led Fixture Cluster Redesign (radion inspired)

I wish i could edit my picture post. I just realized that all the img links from my server were entered incorrectly. In case anyone was wondering why they might not be seeing what i was talking about. I'll repost the pictures below. Everything on except white All ON Same as above No...

Phasezero's DIY Led Fixture Cluster Redesign (radion inspired)

Thanks Tat. I'm glad it's all finished. As usual with any project i attempt, it took about 5x as long as i predicted, and costed 2x as much. It was all worth it though. Just to address a previous post i made, I take back what i said about the red/turquoise as i can tell it played a role in...

Phasezero's DIY Led Fixture Cluster Redesign (radion inspired)

Finally here are a ton of pictures of the new setup and some before pictures. I'll start off with some tank progression. Here's a shot when this particular tank when it was about 6 mo old with a 2 bulb aquatic life T5 fixture. Here is a side by side of the old setup on the right. Another...

Phasezero's DIY Led Fixture Cluster Redesign (radion inspired)

I had it tuned down to 500 mA from the rated 700. Should idrop it more?. Would adding 2 more leds to increase the resistance possibly help?

Phasezero's DIY Led Fixture Cluster Redesign (radion inspired)

Here are some pictures of the upgrade process. I'm pretty much finished and tested the lights. I hung it over the tank and am impressed with the amount of pop the true violets give when they are on by themselves or with the blues. With all lights on full blast the violets are hard to notice...

Anyone in Burlington area selling SPS frags?

I live up in Bellingham and will be driving down to Burlington pretty often to help my fiance with her Bee Thesis research at the farms. I'm particularly looking for any type of Acropora for myself and possibly any other corals you might be willing to sell since she also likes LPS and zoas. I'm...

Phasezero's DIY Led Fixture Cluster Redesign (radion inspired)

I will be borrowing a PAR meter from Western washington university and check my drop off as i leave the centers. If it's bad i might put my 60 degree lenses back on the Cree's. I'm excited to see some new colors to play around with. Not too excited about how much i spent this time around for...

Phasezero's DIY Led Fixture Cluster Redesign (radion inspired)

I believe the theory is to cluster differing colors together to improve color blending. With the traditional checker board style of light such as the ecoray or almost all DIY led fixtures, it seems like the even spacing of multiple point sources will hit surfaces differently after being...

Phasezero's DIY Led Fixture Cluster Redesign (radion inspired)

It's been 1 year since I've built the 14RB/8NW fixture and it's time to redo this fixture to address many issues. All parts have already been ordered, so i will update this thread with pictures as i go along with before and after pictures. The goal for this redesign is to address the following...

    new arrivals 3/12-3/16

Just curious, do you guys do any special procedures with the wild/mariculture pieces you guys get? Things like dips or QT to avoid pests.

    Phasezero's 55G SPS Tank

I have never found any signs of sps pests from their sps tank or all the corals I've purchased from that particular tank. Which is why I'm okay with taking the chance at < $5.00 corals that i can recover. But i totally understand your concerns as I wouldn't recommend anyone else to buy corals...

    Phasezero's 55G SPS Tank

Thanks everybody! Ya i go there too much. Unfortunately their SPS tank is going through a major crash right now. Everything has tissue necrosis and is declining fast. So they haven't stocked anything new the past few months and probably won't for a while. I was able to get some a few nice...

    Phasezero's 55G SPS Tank

I converted this 55g from a fowlr to an SPS tank about 4 months ago after i was inspired by resurrecting a RBTA on the brink of death in this tank. I started with some digitatas and after i actually witnessed a sign of growth i became hooked on SPS since then. Here is a basic rundown of my...

What was your worst pest or algae?

These are microscope shots we took of them. You can pretty easily tell if something is an Amphipod because they run around with curled back ends. I think the chance is small and happens mostly where they are starting to over populate. It must be pretty rare because if you search about it...

What was your worst pest or algae?

Predatory adult Amphipods were my worst pest. They were decimating zoa frags in one night or colonies over a few days. Worst part is that the tank with the biggest infestation was our frogfish tank. So we were unable to add any pod hunters to the tank. We ended up freshwater dipping every single...
