    Pinched Mantle

Great thread guys! I've read a lot of pinching threads in the past couple years but never once was the focus on finding out the cause. First, I would like to say that, NO, I can guarantee that this protozoan is not species specific. I've been dealing with the pinching for close to 2 years...

    South Dakota Reefers

Call around to your local glass shops. At least one of them should be willing to drill the tank for you. Not sure how much they would charge though. Also, they usually won't "guarantee" that they won't crack the tank. You could also drill it yourself. Aquaticeco.com sells diamond drill bit...

    South Dakota Reefers

Getting a tank drilled isn't really that big of a worry. It shouldn't matter much where you get it drilled. I would just make sure you stay a few inches away from the edges and you should be fine. If you go this route I would plan where to drill, then check with the manufacturer to see if...

    South Dakota Reefers

Thanks for the compliment. I started my first system out simple. It was through the years that I learned more about the necessary equipment to keep my reef happy and I applied all of that to my new system while also taking into account aesthetics and accessability. The first thing I would...

Let's do a roll call. I wanna see how many of us are here from the area. Maybe we will find someone that doesn't post on the other board.

A 750g SPS system is born

Yup, I use a filter sock and rinse it under the sink first. I have to rinse for several minutes to get 4 cups of carbon clean. I never notice any dust in the tank or skimmer. Is your carbon reactor fluidizing the carbon? If so, I wonder if the fluidizing action doesnt cause the carbon...

A 750g SPS system is born

Alberto, When I had the 3 hayward actuated valve running on my tank there wasn't any noise from the plumbing. Just the annoying electric pencil sharpener sound from the valves themselves.

A 750g SPS system is born

AcroSteve, the gate valve is a good idea. However, I can't stress enough how important it is to have a BACK UP in case it gets restricted for some reason. I lost a fully stocked 75g sps tank to a plugged overflow drain that had a gate valve on it. If it wasn't for the gate valve, I would...

A 750g SPS system is born

Alberto, please keep us updated on how you end up addressing the noise of the water flowing down the overflow pipes. I have the same problem with my clam tank in my living room. It has a durso, which eliminates gurgling but I still have the trickling water sound. If the radiums are even...

A 750g SPS system is born

Hi Alberto, I remember speaking with you a while back (through pm I think) and you mentioned that your Sequence pumps vibrate a lot. Are they still doing this? I was talking with my brother-in-law over Christmas about this as my 6000's do make a lot of vibrating noise due to where they are...

A 750g SPS system is born

Alberto, glad to see you started a thread for this awesome project. It looks like things are coming along very well so far. I do have a couple questions. Are you going to be using any GFCI's? Also, what was wrong with your CL pumps? Were they the Valueflo's? If so, were you able to get...
