    metal halide question

I had that light (if it's still the one I traded you) about 4" off my acrylic and never had a problem. add a small fan to keep the heat from the bulb moving in between the bulb and the brace so it won't build up and you will have no issues. It didn't melt or craze mine and it was 3/8 acrylic.

    Shrinking/unhappy/dying Rics?

After hearing that description they are Yumas and No I didn't photo aclimate them. They were under T5's at BR and I run VHO so I figured That shouldn't be an issue but just thought that IDK how long BR had them in there tank or where they came from. I moved the rock under a ledge so there...

    New Store in W. Seattle

I was talking to the owner not long after it opened about getting in some SW livestock. He's woried about demand so If anyone in the area can get over to the store, let him know what you would like. He's very flexable and already told me he could special order anything if I wanted it but I'll...

    125 Gallon Walkaround

I love this Idea, but what hapends if for some reason you'r Overflow get's a little clogged or something and the water level in the overflow rises? wouldn't the PVC pipe you have the wires running threw that's shorter than the tank level become another standpipe with a perfect shot to all you'r...

    Possible cheap and good food??

Buying these foods from the grocery store and doing this would be a good idea and alot of people do that. I would not get any from the local beach due to posible polutents near the shoreline. Most people even say If you want to use natural seawater you should harvest it miles from shore to lower...

    ID please

When I had majanos in my tank the spread out and walked alot. If they are stationary I would think they could posibly be Alveopora. but If they move I would say majano. Hopfully there not the latter.

    Which overflow would u reccomend?

I used a CPR overflow for quite a while before I went RR. I would opt to use a powerhead with a venturi in it (or use a spliter connected to 2 powerheads like I did for double pice of mind) over an aqualifter, and not use black hose for connecting it (if you can see the algea you'll know when to...

    Can't keep Pom Pom Xenias!

I have somewhat the same problem. I can grow pom pom but no luck with the other xenias. And now that I have better filtration and skimming for my slow move to SPS, the pom poms I have are slowing way down in growth while zoos, kenyas, and other softies and mushrooms show no change in growth and...

    Quick sump question

I just did some googling and It looks like that overflow hase been noted by many people not te even be able to handle a mag7 pump with 4' of head on it. If you have no air bubbles in the Utube and have a good siphon there, than it's just not handleing the flow. seen 3 different people state...

    Quick sump question

You can also replace the PVC with flexable spa tubing. that would eliminate both 45° bends, but I would guess that a single 1" bulkhead will top out at about 600gph no matter how you plump it. When you open up the return all the way and the tank goes to overflow, does the outside portion of...

    Quick sump question

What size bulkhead is in the overflow box and how many bends are in the drain line back to the sump? Both of these things can effect how many GPH an overflow can handle. Most HOB overflows I know of have a single 1" bulkhead whitch at max can handle only about 700gph, and that's only under a...

My Aquarium! :) *Lots Of Pics* 10/11/2009

It's because you have a blue tang in that tank. I'm the one who posted that original post and have decided not to house one in my 110g. It's all about the swimming room and if it's not atiquate the fish can get stressed and sick easaly. If I was you I would trade off the tangs to someone who has...

Blue tang in a 5' tank?

That's what I needed to know. I guess I'll be looking to get rid of my foxface soon then. He was originaly in my 6' 135g tank but I downgraded recently and didn't realise it was too small for him. Liveaquaria states there both ok in min. 75g (usualy 36") so I didn't think twice about the foxface...
