    Refugium advice

Shallower and wider, for sure... more surface area exposed to light for the macro to occupy... the mantra here is (as mentioned above) "more volume, more volume!!!"...

    Refugium advice

I have a 20g tall that I modified into a refugium back when I began this hobby a number of years ago... it faithfully serves my 92g corner reef display quite nicely. This design was my first, but I have since modified it a great deal to more closely resemble the Ecosystem designs. The nitrate...

Can Anyone Possitively ID this Wrasse?!

I have to say, "I'm impressed"!!! Thanks... Bakersfield, CA?! I was born in Lancaster, lived in Palmdale for the earlier years of my life... don't hear about that neighborhood too often. How is Bakersfield these days?!

    Localized Xenia Extermination

Stainless tools are usually fine... anything that won't oxidize. I use surgical steel frag tools in my reef fairly often and they have shown no signs of rust... no ill effects in the tank either...

Caulpera has lost color! warning sign?

Rock on man! You're off to a good start... in my experience, constantly running powerfilters with that much liverock can be conterproductive in regards to your nitrate level (I feel a controversy coming on). What happens is your powerfilters out compete with the bacteria in your rock for...

Caulpera has lost color! warning sign?

As far as I know, the caulerpa sporing out is largely due to giving the macro a dark cycle... I run mine 24/7 and it hasn't gone sexual in several years... versus fairly often prior. I don't know of any magic light/dark cycle that would prevent the caulerpa from sporing out... but that's one of...

    Localized Xenia Extermination

Thanks Mike... Hey, I really appreciate the help here... I do want everyone to understand that the xenia I am able to frag off is being just that... fragged off for others. I am not into the wholesale slaughter of corals... I am just trying to protect the other corals in the tank and prevent...
