Nice pic's thanks for sharing! The coral shrimp looks pretty mean does he bother your cleaner shrimp? The clown anemone looks nice, might have to print the picture out and show it to mine.

Can Adding a new piece of rock cause a cycle?

If the rock previously had life on it it will probally still have some organic matter in the middle. I agree with Krish that if there is nothing than no cycle but if you want to be paranoid you can always throw it in a container with a heater + power head for a bit to cure the rock.

    Considering a Neptune Apex controller...

I purchased the full Apex and have been very happy with it. Its fairly simple to program and have been able to control everything that I wanted plus the ability to fidget with stuff on an ongoing basis. Plus being able to check on the status of my tank from my phone/work is awsome. Finally my...

A question regarding a tank build with dry coral

I bought dry rock from Bulk Reef Supply and did a preventure cure in Brute Tash bins in the garage with a PH + Heater for a couple weeks while my tank was getting setup. I did one waterchange on it before sticking it in the display. Haven't regreted it and I like the control of not adding...

    Power loss

Finally got power back. I hooked up a power inverter to my car to run a Powerhead and air-stone but didn't have enough AMP's to run a heater. My sump and refugium in the garage got down to ~50 so I've lost any cleanup crew I got in there. Convinced my SO to get a generator and happened to be...

Built in 145 gallon custom Acrylic build

Its been awhile thought I'd give an update. PH: 8.2, Ammonia : 0, NO2: 0, NO3: 0-5 (color is between 0 and 5). I treated the water with Dr Tim's one and only and added a pair of clown fish. Good news is Dr Tims kept my params low. Bad news is the fish didn't make it. The first one ended...

    my first sump design

I would keep in mind if you put in a check valve that you should periodically make sure that its clear otherwise it will get stuck open from debry. Regardless of the return line you still need to account for water in the drain draining off when the power is off.

    my first sump design

For your intake into your skimmer area make sure you leave enough room to remove the collector for cleaning. Also if your considering a filter sock make sure you can position it so that the skimmer pump won't get clogged with the sock. Finally it looks like you have your baffels going all the...

    Nudibranch ID

Thanks I think I'm going to plan on transplanting the white flat worms into the main display and doing a treatment on the refugium. Seems then that the flatworm exit dosen't seem to hurt the pods too badly.
